Finding Your Flow
Jul 04, 2025We hear it often—“I’m just trying to get into the flow.” But what does that really mean? And more importantly, what does it mean for you?
July’s theme is all about finding your flow—not someone else’s idea of it, not what social media shows it should look like, not even what you thought your flow used to be. This is about discovering and honoring the rhythm that feels right for you right now.
Just like every yoga pose looks and feels different in every body, the flow of life, work, rest, and movement will feel different for each soul. One person’s vibrant productivity may be another’s burnout. One person’s peaceful stillness may be another’s discomfort. So let’s toss aside the idea that flow has to look a certain way. It’s deeply personal. It's authentic. It's evolving.
Are You in the Flow—or in the Current?
Sometimes we think we’re “in flow,” but we’re actually just being swept away by the current. We’re overbooked, overstimulated, or overcommitted. And instead of consciously moving through our day, we’re just trying to stay afloat.
Other times, we’re paddling like mad trying to catch up to the current—feeling like we’re behind, like everyone else has it figured out, like we missed the boat.
So how do you know the difference?
Flow is present, not pressured.
Flow is aligned, not rushed.
Flow is yours, not someone else’s timeline or to-do list.
What Does Your Flow Feel Like?
This month, on and off the mat, consider asking yourself:
- Where do I feel like I’m forcing something?
- Where do I feel like I’ve lost myself in the current?
- What does ease feel like in my body, in my mind, in my schedule?
- Where does my energy naturally want to go today?
Whether you’re practicing yoga, moving through a busy workday, or just living your life moment to moment, there’s always a chance to pause, reassess, and reconnect to your unique rhythm.
Practice Flow This Month
In my classes this month, we’ll explore flow in a variety of ways—from dynamic movement to stillness, from intuitive transitions to intentional holds & more. You’ll be invited to tune into what feels nourishing, not just what’s “next.” You’ll be encouraged to listen in and move accordingly.
And maybe most importantly, you’ll be reminded that your version of flow is exactly enough.
Let’s celebrate our uniqueness and embrace the beautiful rhythm that’s yours alone.
Namasté,
gina
